Fixer Upper with Joanna Gaines is a popular HGTV show that aired from 2013 to 2018 (we're sure you've heard of if, too!) The show featured Joanna Gaines, a talented designer and businesswoman, and her husband Chip, a skilled builder and real estate professional, as they transformed run-down homes into beautiful and functional spaces in Waco, TX. One of the signature styles Joanna Gaines is known for is the modern farmhouse look, which combines traditional farmhouse elements with modern design features and is a personal favorite of ours. Today on the blog, we're recreating some of our favorite modern farmhouse looks from Fixer Upper, so that you can incorporate the look into their own home.
To achieve the overall modern farmhouse look, we recommend starting with a neutral color palette of whites, grays, and beiges. We also suggest incorporating natural materials, such as wood and stone, to add warmth and texture to the space - think stone vases & wooden risers!
